Aniimo Catching Guide — Aniipods, Odds & Approach

Verified 2026-09-10Official game artwork

Quick answer

You catch Aniimo by throwing an Aniipod at them — but what you do before the throw matters just as much. Across the closed beta tests, sneaking up on a target, catching Aniimo while they sleep, or engaging them in combat first all improved capture odds and reduced the pods a catch consumed.

One caveat first: Aniimo launches on September 16, 2026 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S) and September 23, 2026 (iOS and Android). Everything below comes from the three global closed beta tests and community beta guides, so treat exact numbers as historical until the launch version is re-verified.

How catching works in Aniimo

Catching runs through the Aniipod, the capture device every Pathfinder carries. You aim, throw, and hope the pod holds. A failed throw simply costs the pod you spent, so the real skill in the beta was not aiming — it was spending fewer pods per catch.

The beta built three levers into that cost. Approaching undetected — the in-game tutorial teaches stealth movement — lets you throw before a wild Aniimo bolts. Sleeping Aniimo can be caught on the spot without a fight. And softening a target in combat first measurably improves your odds when you finally throw.

That adds up to the core economy of the game: every alternative approach means fewer Aniipods spent per catch. The beta community's advice followed directly from it — use cheap methods on commons, and keep strong pods for the targets you actually care about.

Every Aniipod reported so far

Community beta guides compiled eight Aniipod tiers. No official catch-rate numbers exist as of September 10, 2026 — the multipliers below are what those guides observed on screen during beta 3, so read every figure as (to be confirmed).

AniipodReported effect (beta)
AniipodStandard pod; the everyday catch tool
Aniipod ProReported 1.5x catch-rate bonus
Aniipod MegaReported 2x catch-rate bonus
Aniipod HyperReported 2x bonus with faster, longer throws
Aniipod TraceReported 2x bonus plus auto-tracking of the target
TumblerReported 2x bonus, or 6x on a Nurture-system Aniimo
Aniipod UltraReported guaranteed catch with at least Elite Potential
Sparkling CubeReported guaranteed catch, Elite Potential and a guaranteed Sparkling Aniimo

Two pods stand out from the list. Aniipod Ultra reportedly guarantees the catch and lands at least Elite Potential quality, while the Sparkling Cube guarantees the catch, the quality and a Sparkling Aniimo — the game's shiny equivalent — in one throw.

Which Aniipods you should save

The consistent beta advice: never spend Ultra- or Cube-tier pods on commons. Basic and Pro-tier pods handled everyday catches, while the guaranteed-catch pods were reserved for rare spawns, strong Alphas, Sparkling hunts and Prismana targets.

Alphas are the clearest use case. Beta footage shows players defeating an Alpha in combat and then catching it with an Aniipod Ultra, which guarantees the capture — a guaranteed catch on a guaranteed-strong reward, with no failed throws in between.

The Tumbler is the sleeper pick. On its own it is an ordinary 2x pod, but community guides report it jumps to a 6x bonus when used on a Nurture-system Aniimo — worth stockpiling if you plan to engage with the Nurture and Homeland systems.

How to raise your catch odds without spending more pods

Conditions and approach did more work than pod tiers in the beta. Before throwing anything, run through this checklist:

  1. Check the Aniilog entry first — wild Aniimo list spawn conditions such as night time, rain, thunderstorms, snow or auroras.
  2. Fast-forward day and night on the spot to meet a night-only spawn window.
  3. Approach in stealth and throw before the target notices you; sleeping Aniimo are effectively free catches.
  4. Weaken combative targets in battle before throwing — beta guides consistently report better odds against fought-down Aniimo.
  5. Grab every Lumen Amber you pass: during the beta these collectibles fed regional branches that improved capture rate, traversal and stamina.

Where to get more Aniipods

Pods came from four places during the beta, and none of them required spending premium currency:

  • Open-world pickups: community maps charted 500+ Aniipod pickup points in the beta starting region alone (closed-beta data).
  • Homeland crafting: beta builds included an Aniipod maker facility that produced Aniipod, Aniipod Pro and Aniipod Mega as it levelled up.
  • Mail and event rewards: a beta update mailed players an Aniipod Trace directly, with no code or purchase involved.
  • Pre-registration milestones: community trackers report two Aniipod Ultra tied to the 15 million pre-registration milestone (to be confirmed).

Between pickups, crafting and rewards, the beta never felt pod-starved — but strong pods were always scarce. Plan around that scarcity and the catching economy takes care of itself.

Frequently asked questions

5 Q&As

How do you catch Aniimo?

Throw an Aniipod at the target. Sneak up on it, catch it while it sleeps, or weaken it in combat first — all three raise your odds and save pods. Save Aniipod Ultra and Sparkling Cube for rare targets.

What is the best Aniipod in Aniimo?

Aniipod Ultra is the strongest for value: a reported guaranteed catch with at least Elite Potential. The Sparkling Cube adds a guaranteed Sparkling on top. Neither should be wasted on commons.

Are Aniimo catch rates officially confirmed?

No. As of September 10, 2026, Pawprint Studio has not published catch-rate numbers. The 1.5x and 2x multipliers in this guide are community-reported from the closed beta tests (to be confirmed).

Can you catch Alpha Aniimo?

Yes. The beta pattern was to defeat the Alpha in combat first, then catch it — and community guides report that an Aniipod Ultra guarantees the capture afterwards.

Will catching work differently at launch?

Possibly. This guide is built from the three closed beta tests; Pawprint Studio rebalanced systems between tests before. Re-check this page after the September 16, 2026 launch.
